The office's demanding court schedules required him to evaluate evidence, question witnesses, negotiate resolutions, present cases in court, and make important decisions efficiently. He also developed experience supervising and assisting other prosecutors with legal and courtroom issues.
Mr. Sexner later worked for periods of time with the Illinois Secretary of State and the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Establishing a Chicago-Area Law Practice in 1990
After leaving the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Mr. Sexner opened the Law Offices of Mitchell S. Sexner in 1990. The practice began in Chicago's northwest suburbs and later expanded to the City of Chicago so that the firm could serve clients throughout Northern Illinois.

Leadership in Injury and Medical Malpractice Cases
Mr. Sexner leads a firm that represents people and families facing serious legal and financial consequences after preventable injuries. These cases frequently involve extensive records, disputed facts, insurance-company defenses, medical opinions, expert testimony, and questions about the client's future treatment and financial needs.
The firm's work includes medical malpractice claims involving hospitals and healthcare professionals, Illinois workers' compensation cases, motor vehicle accidents, nursing home abuse and neglect, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and civil lawsuits involving sexual abuse and assault.
Depending on the circumstances, a case may require assistance from physicians, nurses, vocational professionals, economists, engineers, accident-reconstruction specialists, or life-care planners. Mr. Sexner and the legal team evaluate each matter individually and seek the resources appropriate for that client's particular injuries and legal issues.
Results for Injured Clients and Families
Since the firm was established, its attorneys and affiliated legal teams have recovered more than $40 million through settlements and verdicts for injury and malpractice clients. These recoveries have involved medical malpractice, delayed diagnosis, surgical negligence, sexual abuse, workplace injuries, catastrophic harm, nursing home neglect, and wrongful death.
Past results include multimillion-dollar medical malpractice recoveries and substantial compensation for clients harmed by abuse and other serious misconduct. Visit the firm's verdicts and settlements page for examples. Every case is different, and a prior result does not guarantee the outcome of another matter.

A Client-Focused Approach to Legal Representation
Mr. Sexner believes that effective representation begins with listening carefully to the client. Two cases may involve similar accidents, medical errors, or injuries, but the effects on the people involved can be entirely different. Medical history, employment, family responsibilities, future care, and personal priorities must all be considered when developing a legal strategy.
The firm's goal is to combine careful preparation and determined advocacy with clear communication and compassion. Clients should understand the legal process, the strengths and challenges of their claims, and the important decisions that may arise as the case progresses.
