Snowmobile Accident Kills Wheeling Man

SnowmobileEach year, injuries resulting from snowmobile accidents occur.  Just like all terrain vehicles (ATVs), snowmobiles can be an excellent source of fun, but under the wrong circumstances, they can also be a vehicle that leads to serious injury or death. Snowmobile accidents often involve falling into open water or running into a tree or another stationary object.

Recently, a Wheeling man died when his snowmobile ran into open water in Lake Geneva. Due to falling temperatures, the lake, which appeared to be solid ice, turned to open water near the middle. His snowmobile plunged into the water. Another man jumped off of his machine and avoided falling into the water. The man called 911, but because the open water was not near the edge of the lake, the emergency responders were unable to reach the area for approximately an hour. The Wheeling man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other man was treated for hypothermia.

Although every situation is different, the skilled injury attorneys at Sexner Injury Lawyers LLC will perform an exhaustive review of the circumstances surrounding any wrongful death or injury case that may involve negligence on the part of another party. No stone is left unturned. In circumstances when the police, fire department, ambulance or first responders are slow to respond to a 911 call involving significant injury, an examination can be performed to determine if the injured party’s condition would have been improved had the responder arrived quickly. In other circumstances involving machinery or vehicles, an examination to determine if the product was defective can be undertaken to evaluate whether a products liability case is warranted.
